Thank you for your interest in this computer vocabulary basic training, we are confident this information will become a good thing as good ethics starts with online business education,  we firmly believe that you will find that this article will be of enormous benefit to those with an interest in increasing their computer
literacy.

First off, forget any preconceived notions that working a computer will be difficult to master, folks as young as seven years old  have done well, and it is common knowledge that many of the mistakes made using computers stim from not following instructions.

Computer vocabulary is the very first computer essential we insist that our visitors become familiar with, the basic training that will help most of us become skillful and victorious online, we believe that it's the genisis phase of our online learning to get the online business education to communicate effectively online.

Throughout this computer vocabulary basics lesson and any time you are not certain of a certain course of action, do one or all of the following: 1) Reread the instructions meticulously (more than once) 2) Do some research 3) Ask someone that knows.

Start by being familiar with the words used and there meanings, the short list below will be most helpful in giving you a level of confidence and save loads of computer time.

Computer Vocabulary

Address bar: At the top of your web browser where you type the address of the web site you want to view (e.g. domain.com)

Advertising: (see Marketing)

Affiliate: (see MLM)

B ( computer vocabulary)

Backup( computer vocabulary): it is very important to purchase rewrite able cds (CD-RW) to backup your computer data on a regular basis and to store them in another location.

Banner: a form of advertising on the World Wide Web, this form of online advertising entails embedding an advertisement into a web page and is intended to attract traffic to a website by linking to the website of the advertiser.

Blog: is a Web site with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video; "blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Blogging: online media a way for collecting links to webpages and sharing thoughts and ideas with people online; the actual practice of producing a blog.

Bookmarks: a button on the browser's main menu that allows you to save web pages, the webpages that you have cecided to have your browser to remember for use on subsequent occasions.

Browser: a program used to view or manipulate Internet web pages; they are the only way for us to send and receive data on the Internet.

Business: (biz) company

C computer vocabulary

Capitalist: (entrepreneur) business owner

Capitalism: is an economic system in which land, capital goods, and other resources, are owned, operated and traded by private individuals or corporations for the purpose of profit.

Computer partitions: storage physical divisions (drives) of your computer (a:, b:, c:, d:, etc.)

Computer Program (application): computer software for specific purposes

Control panel: the window that gives you access to the critical functions of your computer

Copy & paste: to keep from typing the same data over and over, you can simply copy & paste your data.

To copy: highlight the data and then while holding the ctrl key and the letter c.

To paste the data: hold the ctrl key and the letter v as many times necessary.

D computer vocabulary

Database program: an application to process lists.

Data units: bit is one keystroke (kilobits - thousands of bits, megabits - thousands of kilobits, and gigabits - thousands of megabytes), when downloading you will see this notation kb/sec (kilobits per second) or the percentage of progress.

Before you download any thing into your computer you should know about how much storage space your computer can store, how many data units it has available for storage. You cannot download files if your computer does not have enough memory (data units) to hold it.

Descriptions: search engines will provide you with a short description (usually up to 200 characters) of relevant web pages

Desk top: this is the window where you can access your personal programs and applications

Distributor: (see MLM)

Domain name: Refencing the URL of a particular website on the web; A domain name is used to describe the regions of administrative authority within the Domain name system used for the Internet.

DSL: The fastest way possible to connect to the Internet

E computer vocabulary

Email: the most necessary and used communication program in your computer

Entrepreneur: a business owner

Entrepreneurship: starting a business

F computer vocabulary

Firewall computer vocabulary: A firewall is software or hardware that checks information coming from the Internet or a network, and then either blocks it or allows it to pass through to your computer, depending on your firewall settings.

Files & folders: file is the designation of things added to your computer e.g. *.gif*.doc. Folder is the designation that like files goes into e.g. c://foldername/filename.*

FTP: (file transfer protocol) is a program to facilitate file transfers

G computer vocabulary

Google search: the way to access the thousands of web pages on the Internet, simply type in the search box the information of interest (a keyword or keyword phrase) and click the enter key.

H computer vocabulary

Hard disk: your main storage partition in your computer.

I computer vocabulary

K computer vocabulary

Keystroke: a typed space or character entered

Keyword/Keyword Phrase: the most relevant word related to a web page, usually one, two, three or four words (but never five).

L computer vocabulary

Laptop: sometimes referred to as a notebook computer.

Link: a reference or navigation element in a document to another section of the same document or to another document that may be on or part of a (different)

domain.

M computer vocabulary

Menu: usually at the top of most windows is a list of options for manipulating the page attributes (e.g. word process menu:  file, edit, insert, format, tools, table, window, help).

Microsoft task launcher: a window with a number of useful applications for use on your computer

MLM: Multi-level marketing (MLM), also known as Network Marketing; a business-distribution model that allows a parent company to market its products directly to consumers by means of relationship referrals and direct selling.

Network marketing: (see MLM)

Networking: a social structure made of nodes (which are generally individuals or organizations) tied by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as values, visions, ideas, financial exchange, friendship, kinship, dislike, conflict or trade.

Save your work: while you are working your programs, you should regularly save your work.

Screen name: (also called a handle, nickname, or nick on some systems) refer to a public name that can be used to 'screen' one's true user name from the public eye.

Social networking (social bookmarking): A social network service focuses on building online communities of people who share interests and activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others.

Sleep mode: If you do not enter keystroke within twenty minutes your computer will hibernate automatically.

Spreadsheet program: an application to process mathematical equations

Start menu: when you start your computer click the start button (the circular icon with the windows logo) to open your windows or shut down your computer.

Switch between windows: windows where to view your open windows and switch between them

T computer vocabulary

Task bar: a menu of open windows at the bottom of the screen of your computer.

Traffic exchange: A traffic exchange is a type of website which provides a service for webmasters in exchange for traffic, it is similar to the autosurf concept with the exception that traffic exchanges usually use a manual rotation.

U computer vocabulary

Upload: a process of file transfer from your computer to another computer or server

Username: Users in a computing context refers to one who uses a computer system; users may need to identify themselves for the purposes of accounting, security, logging and resource management.

W computer vocabulary

Windows: a page on which you can manipulate data. Many of your windows will have three little boxes at the top right side of the page.

The first box having a dash when clicked will reduce the size of the window or send it to your task bar at the bottom of your screen. Second box will resize the window. The box with the red x will close the window.

Windows defender (computer education basics): it is important to run antispyware software whenever you're using your computer, spyware and other potentially unwanted software could try to install itself on your computer any time you connect to the Internet.

It can also infect your computer when you install some programs using a CD, DVD, or other removable media; potentially unwanted or malicious software can also be programmed to run at unexpected times, not just when it is installed.
